‘ShantyTok’ Star Signs Record Contract and Sails Up the Charts

The TikTok trend of sea shanties has revealed a new rising star: Nathan Evans. The musician has signed to Polydor Records, promising “I’ve got other things in my locker” in a recent Rolling Stone interview. Resident fears over strict bin rules during COVID 19

Residents in areas of Leeds such as Gipton and Harehills have faced massive fines in the past for flouting the rules of bin collection. In October 2017, Leeds City Council announced a series of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO) across different areas in the city. These measures were to control anti-social behaviour and covered issues such as alcohol, psychoactive substances and household waste with fines being put at a maximum of £1000.

Leeds rental prices growing faster than the national average wage

Rent campaigners in Leeds, say the system is broken after an increase in rent costs. Leeds was only one of 3 cities where rental costs rose faster than the UK average wage growth. Acorn, a community-based group of working-class people -tenants, workers and residents who campaign against high rates of rent, found the increase outrageous but were not surprised to know that landlords welcomed the increase.
